Words on the Wind was a Flight Rising newsletter that covered questions about the site, clarification of rules, behind-the-scenes news and upcoming previews, and also showed off creativity from the userbase. It was officially discontinued on October 17th, 2017, as the purposes it served were by now all covered by other, newer areas of the site.[1]

- At first Words on the Wind (WOTW) was intended to be a monthly newsletter, but it changed to quarterly updates in 2015 to be more substantial and comprehensive.[2]
- With the exception of the very first edition, Aequorin had been the sole voice of the newsletter. The inaugural edition of WOTW was posted by the administrator Xhaztol.
- The first twelve editions of WOTW had designated volume numbers; newer editions did not.
